Anybody out there have any information, good or bad, about a Miller dialarc 250. Found one used in good shape, seems to work well, affordable, but it's a heavy bugger. I just don't know anyone who's had one. Thanks for any information.
Reply:They are a good machine.  Good heavy duty built, good duty cycle, built for heavy welding day in day out, a lot of fab shops, technical schools and ship yards have been known to use them at one time because of their ruggedness.  If you can try out the machine until you are satified it will perform the way you intend to use it.  You might also want to check with a Miller dealer to see if you can get replacement parts for it if needed at some time down the road.  It has been rumored that Miller has discontinued manufacturing some parts for some older machines since they were bought by ITW.  This bit of info comes from a Miller dealer.A few of my toys !LinuxMintManjaroMiller Roughneck 2E Lincoln WeldPak 100HTP MTS 160 Chicago Electric 80amp Inverter   Victor O/A
Reply:I love my dialarc.  You're right about it being heavy and big.  I do almost all my work outdoors.  Even when it comes to welding up gates I'll roll the dialarc outside for some air.If you look at the picture you'll see it on it's very own four wheel steer cart.  The advantages of a four wheel steer far surpass the difficulty in fabrication. If your Dialarc is like mine just changing the clips enables you to change  voltages so you can hook it up just about anywhere. The arc isn't as smooth as the one with my Trailblazer.  But it beats the heck out of the buzz box AC/DC's. Reply:Thanks for the information guys. I did run some rod with the machine and promptly plunked down my cash for the thing. I used it on it's first project with me the other day and I think its a keeper. I like the idea of a cart with pneumatic tires to get the big old beast around Harv, I'm going to put that on the weekend project list. It would appear that your Dialarc is a little newer than the one I picked up. Mine has that older Miller blue that's just a little lighter, and the Miller logo is "old school". Any guesses on vintage? I could call Miller with the serial # I guess. Thanks again.
