Hi all. bought my welder about a month ago and finished my first project. I've never welded before and decided that I should start MIG'ing aluminum (needed a part for my bike).Please look at this weld and give me your thoughts.Welder is a HH 180 with a Miller Spoolmate 3035.Settings are power-3, speed-45, gas 20CFH.thnx,bob Attached Images

Those are Perfect for someone whos never welded beforeIve been welding for about 7 months now and ive only made like 2 welds that are that niceBut what did you use to weld the aluminum?did you use Straight C02 ? and did u use aluminum wire? Because i have some aluminum wire and a straight c02 tank. i wanted to weld some aluminum for a while.. let me know
Reply:Thanks.You've gotta use aluminum wire and 100% argon. I went with 4043 aluminum wire (.035). I was told by my local supplier that it would be best on 6063 T6 Al for my purposes. |
