I've come across and bought two presses , meh ! I was in the right place at the right time .One is a 17 ton John Heine , the other is a 20 ton Wallbank.I don't need them at the moment but they were virtually giving them away. The Wallbank weighs 1300kgs and the Heine 900 kgs .I want to store them in a corner of the factory, like most factories space is a premium. My thought is to weld a frame and put some casters on them , put the presses on the frame and wheel into a corner so if I have to move them I can.The casters are not a drama I have eight 500kg swivel ones .As to the frame I have plenty of 125mmx100mmx10mm angle .Do you think that section  will be strong enough?Base dimension about 600mmx 900mm.Cheers BrettA good guess is better than a bad measurement
Reply:Some conversions for our US friends: 17 ton = 17 ton 20 ton = 20 ton    1300kgs = 3,500 lb900kg = 2,000 lb500kg = 1,100 lb125x100x10 = 5"x4"x3/8"     BrettA good guess is better than a bad measurement
Reply:The section should be more than fine, based on shear or tensile loading. Bending will depend on the frame design. If you keep the casters in close, then should be fine. I would set it up so that you can lower the base to the floor. Presses that large may end up with heavy tooling or workpieces on them.
Reply:Thanks enlpck,I was able to work so that the casters were underneath the legs of the press so there can be no dramas ,It worked well, thanks for the response.BrettA good guess is better than a bad measurement
