will pm255 display actual current?

Hi,    I'm trying my new pm-255c at different settings. The product info literaturefrom Lincoln states that the while welding, the wire feed rate display will show the actual weldiing current. Yesterday I tried to verify this statment by starting an arc and observing the wire display. It stayed solid on the feed rate and seemed never to indicate the weld current. The voltage display did seem to show the actual voltage however.    Has anyone ever observed the actual weld current on this display?
