I have acquired a Miller DialArc HF 250 and want to know the best way to remove all the build up grundge on the internal components. The person I got it from told me to "Powerwash" it, then blow it off with an air nozel and let it dry for a few days.  This seems really wrong to me and I am looking for other opinions.I have tried to blow it off with compressed air and have not had much sucess.
Reply:Dont powerwash it!!!  You can take a soft bristle brush like used for computers, camera lenses, etc. to brush dust and grime away followed by blowing it out with air set at low pressure.  Then you can use electrical contact spray cleaner from an electrical store or radio shack to clean contacts switches etc.  Just dont use it on pc boards in the machine.  If you need better info on cleaning it, contact a Miller technician for the right proceedure. Reply:Listen to smawgmaw on this one. Don't be doing any "power" anything to it. Give somebody a call or run it in for a look see. Your idea of grunge may not be as bad as you think but the cleaning could be disaster.
Reply:Well............  I called my local Miller Service Center and they informed me: "Off the record" That they often "Hot Pressurewash" the older 330 A/BP's and Dialarcs.  He said the they are not electronic like the new welders.  I dunno, I guess I will keep using it the way it is. I just thought that it would operate cooler if cleaned.
