Apparently it is a MIG machine made the the Italian firm called Fimer.  Anyone have any opinions on this machine? Or the company?  Someone has it for sale in my area and I am thinking of buying it.Thanks,Adrian
Reply:It's not the quality of the machine that would trouble me, it's the availability of replacement and space parts. If you only need a liner or contact tips, but they can't be found reasonably fast and cheap, the cost of a new unit with locally available parts will seem VERY reasonable.Just my  opinion, not from a book, just from the road.Howes Welding Inc.www.howesweldinginc.com
Reply:Yeah I kind of figured that.  I stopped by the local welding supply, had to buy some MIG pliers,  and I asked them about the Fimer welder.  They said they never heard of it and also mentioned the parts issue.  However, the guy selling the unit told me where he bought it from and I called the company (DaytonaMIG) and asked them about it.  Although they don't sell the brand anymore they have a very good supply of parts.  The Italian company still makes welders but I don't think they export export to the US anymore. The nice thing about the local weld shop is that after we talked a bit about the welder, he gave me a line on a used 150 AMP MIG unit selling for half as much as the other guy is asking for the Fimer.  I guess I'll have to check it out...hehe.Adrian
