I am in the process of shopping for Tig Welder. I will be welding aluminum. I will be fabricating quad racing parts which will be mainly light duty welding. I am familer with Miller Welders from my college welding lab, but I was just wondering what seem to work the best for this type of welding? I also have $1000-1500 budget.Welding Engineering Student. Reply:whats the thickness of the aluminum? the thickest stuffCHRIS
Reply:I just bought a Lincold Precision TIG 185 and it is very good on small and accurate aluminum parts. When I did a large several pound aluminum casting last week (1/4" thick), it ripped though it with only 150 amps like nothing. I've used the Millers before, but prefer the Lincoln for AL TIG and my ESAB MM260 for AL spoolgun MIG. |
