i have either machine at my disposal for $1800sa-200 w'100' remote and power box   n/a hrslincoln 305G w/ all options except remote  2662 hrsboth gas, both welders hmmmm wich one?i keep thinkin go with what ya know but the age of a machine is worryin me!i know the sa but i'm thinkin i want to go w/a newer welder due to the gen capabilitesjust askin what ya'll think
Reply:offer $3,000 for both.
Reply:I got an SA and just picked up a trailblazer for the power outlets. And as a second welder I suppose. If your running pipeline or just laying on it all day...SAI vote 305g. for everything else.....I love the power options I lacked before, and the compact size is....great,,,In and out of the truck with a cherry picker in no time flat.Much, much more versatile machine....1981 Lincoln SA 200Miller Trailblazer 302gMiller 211 Mig Welder w/ AutosetI'm learning to stick metal together
Reply:What type of welding do you do the Sa is an industrail machine with a engine and genrator that will last a very very long time. The 305 g I would be worried about with over 2600 hours on it that gas lawn mower engine is getting tired and a new Kohler engine for about $2000.00. The 305 would be a good mobile unit with a large geneator for buck up power, and plasma cutting. The Sa would be a good structure welding or pipeline machine. I would go with the sa if I didn't have to have the Genator for plasma cutting.Vantage 300 kubota ,miller 304 xmt ,lincoln ln 25 pro , ranger 305 G, plenty of other tools of the trade to make the sparks fly.
Reply:mainly refinery turnaround pipe/stick/dc tigggin, when i ran for dixie PL i had an ol 63 PGE red face and loved it, since then i stayed home for a few yrs and got used to runnin the companies machines!!!!!!!!!! kinda nice LOLbut the T/A bug has bitten and tired of bein a singlehand and want to make the most out of my talent, with that bein said i don't "PLAN" on runnin the line again, but we all know how that goes!all in all i'd say i'm gonna be in the laydown yard buildin spools, up in the racks retroin old to new and maybe some ss here n there!i like the gen capabilities of the newer machines, but do i really need it????Thanks guy'sRandy (it's not who stupid, it's HOWE)secret squirrel weldingslingin steel since 2002

Reply:Tough choice but I too would be very leary of the 305G with that many hours.  Even if it were well maintained it is still a lot of hours on that engine. The SA is a nice machine if it has been upgraded and is in good condition but it is often hard to judge just exactly what kind of condition they are really in since you have no idea how long or hard they have been ran. I would never buy an SA sight unseen unless it was a project machine like the one I have. If I bought it to go to work with I would have to run some rod with it first.  If it was my money and I was not pressed to buy one of the two machines that you mentioned, I would wait for something that I could put my hands on and weld with first. JMHO though.Last edited by goinssr; 02-02-2011 at 08:26 PM.StephenMillermatic 251Miller Syncrowave 200Miller 30A SpoolgunHypertherm Powermax 30Etc., etc., etc.............Cancer Sucks!
