Reply:andy beat me too it.when they strike the arc in the furnace it is the most energy i have ever seen released at once with the exception of 12" naval guns. what is real ugly is when water gets trapped under the molten steel, it makes a nice big bang.Water will actually puddle on top of the molten steel and look like mercury floating in its own little steam atmosphere, then a piece of slag or scrap will hit the puddle and carrywater under neath the surface, 1 oz of water = 2 sticks of dynamite. Reply:Shox Dr, the Indians are buying up American steel mills also. Plus, most of our scrap metal is going to China, and a mine in MN is sending it's entire iron ore run to China.Richard TerryMarine engineer.............  C'mon retirement!
