I know the basic defination of the pulse feature on tig welders, but can somebody some more elaboration on what exactly does the pulse feature does, pics would help too.  Thanks
Reply:Howdy!  I have been looking into a new welder, with the pulse feature.  I also looked on ebay for the pulse feature as an aftermarket addition, and found affordable prices (about 150-250)  for a Pulser box, that goes in line with your welding feeds and connects to a 20 amp 110V circuit.  MK was the manufacturer of these units I believe. I am no expert, but it is myunderstanding, that their are two heat levels.  A mild, (say 60% of average weld output)  and a Hot, (say 120% of average heat output).  The heat input of each cycle of hot to cold can be adjusted, as well as the frequency between the hot/cold pulses.  The idea, is that when adjusted correctly, The low heat portion provides better wetting characteristics, and preheats the HAZ, and the high temp pulses lay each one of the beads.  That is my understanding, but I am not a professional welder.  This way you can adjust penetration Vs. wetting characteristics. I.E.  flat ,wide, and shallow, or tall, narrow, and deep.  Kinda the same idea as switching to a different gas style.  say from 75/25 CO2/Argon  to a 98/2  argon Oxygen.  Or along those lines.  Happy Welding!  Brian Lee  Sparkeee24
