We manufacture SS tube recently we changed steel vendors and are now getting higher sulfur content in our steel. We are being told that this is specifically formulated for the tube industry and should weld faster with more constant penetration. We are having difficulty getting it to work without inclusions or edge waves. Any suggestions would be great.
Reply:What is the thickness and diameter of the tube you're welding? Also, do you fill the tube with Argon when welding?
Reply:Or nitrogen?
Reply:We weld 3 differant I.D's 3.211, 3.372, and 3.411. The shielding gas is directed thru the backing bar, the seam clamping arms and thru the weld torch its self. We currently use 100 % argon we have tried 95% Ar w 5% H |
