After getting more and more use out of my new TA185, i thought i would let you all know my impressions on this unit.Well, so far, so good.The arc is very stable, well controled on stainless and mild steel aps.AC on alu. is very,very nice. No arc "flutter" or wander. Pulse on any material is about the coolest thing ever (never used it before).The adjustability is pretty much infinite for pulse, up-slope, down-slope, %'s, and Hz's and what nots.SMAW with these inverters is really,really nice too, supplying a very controled arc even on E6010. Thats about it so far, still playing around a bunch with all the controls.The downside:Control Panel: kinda confusing, as nothing is labeled (just pictograms for stuff like pulse times, and so on). But once you study the manual, you and figure it out easily. Panel not as straight forward as the Dynasty 200DX, but not a big deal.Foot Pedel: Not a fan of this design at all. Perfer the Miller RFCS-14 much more, due to the little stop where you can rest your heel. Really not a big deal either, but i'd perfer the Miller one to this. (i think you can get an adapter to run the 14pin remotes on this setup, so no biggie there)No 120V-3phase input: I like the portability, and use it often, but not all places have 220V. It would be nice to plug into 120v if you are in a pinch, or 3ph for that matter. Guess i can live with that though.Summary:Good performance on just about anything you can throw at it. Good amp range (5-185a) Infinate varible controls, pulse. A few drawbacks (mostly personal), but nothing crazy or major. Price is more than right at a tad under $1700.00usd. The only thing unknown is how long will there little inverters last? I know of a few that i know that have Dynasty200DX's, and have had them for over a year, keep em' clean and you should have no problems. But all and all, a good machine at a great price.
