Ok guys I am looking to build a press break, need ideas and pictures of anything you have made.I don't know exactly what size I am looking at making yet, but it will need some balls since I want to do 1/4 plate. So post away!Me!
Reply:There are several in this column, just search this column for "press brake". One that has been referenced before comes to mind: http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...ydraulic+pressThe builder added an attachment for right-angle bends. This is one of the projects from which I drew inspiration to build my own bench-top 6 ton mini-press, pictured in the thread "mini break plans".-MondoMember, AWSLincoln ProMIG 140Lincoln AC TombstoneCraftsman Lathe 12 x 24 c1935Atlas MFC Horizontal MillCraftsman Commercial Lathe 12 x 36 c1970- - - I'll just keep on keepin' on.
Reply:This table is a good place to start-http://www.americanmachinetools.com/pressure_table.htmIt tells you you need a hair over 15 tons per foot of width you wish to bend in 1/4".So if you just want to bend 2" flat bar, a jack will do the job. And if you want to bend 3' wide sheets of 1/4", you are gonna need a 50 ton cylinder.
Reply:Well here is the press that I built. http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=18399 I still haven't made any good dies for it.That will probably happen when I need them for a project. |
