How do you know the right time to replace tig nozzles, collet bodies, etc? I would think the collet bodies never need replaced, unless losing them or hitting them with a hammer! - When do you know it is time to replace the nozzle? - Also, I am guessing the bodies are consumable considering how many places sell extras. Thanks!
Reply:I'm not sure but I would say when it either looks bad, or you notice problems with the torch. ???
Reply:Nozzles when they chip if your a cup walker, collet's when you tighten a bit much and they twist or when they don't tighten up properly on the tungsten.Stephen
Reply:If you weld alot of cast or even galvanized materials sometimes the metal will spit at you and stick to the inside of the cup ( nozzle ) and stick and clog up the screen on a gas lens body. also if you use more amperage than what the tungsten is rated for it will actually screw up your collet. I have got a bunch of 5/32" tungsten seized inside collets at work that wont come out due to running to much amperage through them and getting the collet to hot, using them with the Miller Syncrowave 500 |
