Is there a chart or something on the best pressures and or tips for cutting different thicknesses of steel? I can cut but I am never consistant and know I see people do it much cleaner and better and faster. thaks.
Reply:There is no universal chart for pressures, It depends on who makes the torch. Harris Calorific (the stuff I use) has a chart on their website for all their tips, but that's not going to help you cut well, but it will get you into the ballpark. Good OFC comes as a result of lots of practice. It would help if you found a text on the subject that illustrates the different problems one can have and how to resolve them.Last edited by halbritt; 11-08-2005 at 11:15 AM.-Heath
Reply:There are brand specific charts, yes. Like halbritt says nothing universal. But those are a good starting point. And example would be victor number 0 tip, number 1 tip or number 2 tip would have recommended metal thickness ranges they cut best and the pressures for each. You won't be able to learn much if you are practicing on the wrong thickness with the wrong tip.
