Today I was working on a project..tacking 3/16 round stock I have a good ground... anyway when I went to tack a piece the wire stuck to the tip... this happens so no big deal... after I fixed that... the wire wouldn't feed so I opened the side .. and noticed that the wire all the to the spool looked like it had taken heat and the plastic wire guide has slightly melted... I removed all the wire in the whip and it all had signs of heat... whats up with this??? it this a result from touching the cup to the workpiece??.. I should be using ox/ac or tig considering what I'm doing... but I don't have either...any suggestions?0.30 wire 75/25 gasThanks Marty
Reply:I figured out what happened... when I let off the trigger..the wire spool kept moving and spooled some wire that went up and touched the lead terminals and went + to + creating a short.. back up and running sorry for the false alarm Marty
