Had this old 3/4" chain laying around so thought I'd find a good use for it. Word of advice: don't wrap the chain around a rusty old pipe. Took quite a bit of sledge work to drive the pipe out of the chain !!!!                 Excuse the pic quality and Dammit,Zap,I forgot the dime!!!!Oh well,I guess the mailbox makes a good reference.                                        MikeOl' Stonebreaker  "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw

Reply:That really looks good. If you lived around here you would have also built the mail box indestructable as well. The kids around here have got nothing better to do at night than drive around and beat mail boxes in.

Reply:how hard was it to weld the chain to look like that
Reply:how did you weld it after it was wrappedaround the pipe?
Reply:mla2ofus, Nice one!I built a mail box post out of heavy chain. For the base I used a chunk of crawler track chain and pads, off of a large dozer. It's anchored simply by weight.I figured that since one of my vehicles was as likely to hit it as anyone's, it should be somewhat forgiving. Last edited by denrep; 06-03-2008 at 10:34 AM.
