for those of you who seem to think i can't do anything right, feel free to add your input.here's some welds i did at work. 304 SS, 10 ga sheet. after it was done, it was a folder holder for on my desk. not much else to say, so here's the pics:TIG, trimix, dunno the settings or tungsten size:MIG, dunno wire size, ~310 IPM, C25, ~21.5Vthese are a little different... same tig settings, higher heat tho. 1/4" plate to 2"x2"x7 ga square tube. think of a pencil holder on crack:critiques welcome.Later,Andy
Reply:After the big asteroid strike and we are long gone, Some alien archeologist will dig that up and, You just have to wonder what they will think it was for.Welds look good though.Don't talk about it, Just do it!

Reply:Pretty cool to be able to play with stainless. Your folders and pencils that big? DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:lol... not quite david. it's great having the ability to go to the scrap bin and pull out what i need and do with it what i want. as long as i don;t take it home and keep it, the bosses have no problem with it. i can make a SS go-kart at work, as long as it stays there. lol.we primarily use 10 and 12 ga sheets, and the 10 was already cut to a shape and size that i could use without having to start up the shear and what-not. just grab the pieces and go to the welder.the 1/4" and 7 ga tube pencil holder was made with such large material because the scrap bin was emptied the day before and the big stuff was all that was in there.Later,Andy |
