Got my Weldanpower 225 AC/DC!

Some may remember my questions or ramblings in other posts...Picked up my "Big Red" 9112 Weldanpower AC/DC. Briggs and Stratton power plant, NO CV Serial ( and Duane, through other posts ) tells me its a late 1987 model.Carb will need attention. But she runs- rough, suspecting float is stuck. My Stars, is this thing heavy, bout blew my balls out shoving it up my ramps into my truck..Reading similar posts, Im taking their advice, and running new fuel lines, then Im cleaning the carb. Slip rings look good, havent Ohm brushes yet. Current taps, and fine adj taps look clean, nothing burnt, looks good to my un-trained eye!!Does anyone know where I can dig up info on the Briggs? Reply:Thanks Duane!! Had to remove paint and found the Model, Type and Code number...Found a website with all the diagrams, part numbers and Prices...Ill take pics shortly, up first is carb inspection/cleaning. Gonna sniff the oil. Gas tank inspection, new fuel lines and filter. Bought a new battery today as well.Ill try to snap pics as I go, but once Im in the zone, I just motor along. Reply:Carb apart, gaskets are a mess... New ones ordered, as well as air filter, Idle jet, and float needle, looked worn. Bowl has the awful Ethanol residue...Cleaned it all up.Gas Tank looks decent inside. Reply:Good job on pulling the head. decarbon it and the valves and tourqe it back with a new gasket. Run it a few hours and double check you head bolts and you should be good to go! One thing about those older single cylinders is they are hard to kill. Heres one that I had bought that was smoking like an old steam eng. It ran hard, for about 3 more months before it broke a ring. I was just trying to see how long it would run before i killed all the skeeters in the garden.  Attached Images
Reply:Max, caught you on the PM, heres some pictures   don't have 1 of my oldest WP. With these single cylinder engines it is well worth the price of Snynthetic oil. Get it going and use some cheap oil for a couple or 3 rapid oil changes to get it cleaned out than do a final change and us Mobil 1 or other synthetic. They stand up to the heat of the air cooled engines a little better.,  P.S. before you go sliding that thing around and up and down ramps you should know they weigh in around 500 lbs give or take.  Don't laugh at my boat fuel tank, it is a $19 unit from Cabella's. I found and orginal tank used at a welder repair facility, told me it was mint and he wanted $125 for it, drove 40 minutes to find it was about a gallon and a half and completely rusted inside, Thank you very much but no!    Duane, this is the rust bucket I paid $65 bucks for , it runs and welds but what you see is the good side LOL believe it or not. Reply:KolotYou paid 65 bucks for that rust bucket? Did I read that right? If so you do nice work and I personaly wouldnt laugh at any " home made " gota get something to work set up. I would have charged the guy my time and fuel to ride up there and look at something that wasnt what was advertised. Just a waste of time when people do that to you.
Reply:If I'm not mistaken, you posted those shots up before.  I was probably as amazed then that it runs and welds in that condition.With the right equipment or access to same a new chassis and sheetmetal could be easily fabricated.  The front panel and louvers may be a little time consuming but doable just the same.  Should make an interesting project. Reply:I took very few pics, and with my cell phone no-less.. But heres the Carb after cleaning. Awaiting gaskets before re-assembly.BIG thanks to Duane for showing me where engine info was located. Reply:Kolot, thanks for the heads up regarding oil. Its only 2 qts, so Premium Synthetic wont be a problem..Found on-line manual from Briggs, head torque is 190 in-lbs. Good thing I screwed up all those years ago and bought a in-lbs torque wrench!! Turns out, your supposed to open the head every 100-300 hrs and clean it up.. Manual also has great info on setting up the carb, which will come in handy by next weekend, Im sure...Ill hold-off on grabbing some lead until I see OCV with my meter...One step at a time, hahaRaining hard here... Reply:Carb Rebuilt!!New air filter, and gas lines run, new fuel filter in. Did a compression test just to say "I did it" 105 psi. Reply:Pics to follow:SHE RUNS!!!Took a few minutes to dial in carb. but  it powers an angle grinder. 228v at 230v plugs. OCV is damn close to nameplate.
