Reply:Cool - but why is it a rail shop, as in stair railings or railroad track rails?John -  fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!-  bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:At the rail shop we actually do a number of things, not just handrail. As you can see we get guard rail. We also do steel stair stringers. Sometimes we get stainless. Also a little bit of structural pieces like beams and columns. Embeds, etc. Basically parts that can be fabbed in a shop for commercial and industrial building construction sites.
Reply:Ah - okay, makes sense now. I thought that looked like some type of guard railing. John -  fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!-  bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:More pics. Nothing out of the ordinary, just another day. As you can see the boys are hard at work holding the sawhorses down and making sure that the java does not get wasted.Last edited by Mark...; 08-02-2008 at 06:14 AM.
Reply:Nothing boring about that kind of work. Takes attention to detail or it comes out wrong. The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
Reply:I liked the pics - MUCH cooler than my shop.  MY what a grinder!!Looks like you folks have a good time making cool stuff - can't beat that!!  Have a Jeep Cherokee?  Click Here!
Reply:Yeah it is actually pretty fun and when you get going, you can really pump out some rail. The grinder that I think you are talking about is a 9" with a backer for 60 grit sanding disks. Kinda dangerous, but gets with it like right now.

Reply:I like that nice new Stanley coffee thermos! I have one too, but it is SERIOUSLY well used!! The nice thing is that the inside of mine is still bright, shiny stainless, just like new!City of L.A. Reply:Nice shop set up, Very impressive on the stair stringer and the single panel bend for the landings.Do you bend them in house?Clean setup and functional. What is the table length you have? Looks LOOOOOOOOOOONG..
Reply:What size x thk of square tubing on last picture?

Reply:LA, no we did not bend them in house, but they have built us a new shop that we will be moving into hopefully before winter, and hope to be getting a brake press that can handle that kind of stuff. All the tables are 30' except for the new stainless table that was just built while I was in Twin Falls. That one is 20'. I Started using it with some stainless rails this week.Stainless table:I know, what kind of dork tigs with no gloves? Answer- the one that is too lazy to go to LWS and pick them up! But I have some tillman kidskins on order. The clamping system leave alot to be desired, but I really think that bench dogs will be a definite must for this table in the near future.Nomad, I believe that those were 2"x2"x1/8"Here are a few more shots just for sht eatin grins and gigglesNew machine in use:My help cleaning welds with the machine I am not so sure about yet.
Reply:Mark,Pretty impressive stuff and nice looking shop.  Is that one of those portable 'brush type' passivation machines for de-carbonizing SS?  We tried one and it was just too slow for anything other than a small weld joint or two.Nice work.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
