Where to buy filler necks??

Hey guys... Well, I will soon be making a few small gas tanks out of mild steel, about the size of something found on a lawnmower or small engine of some sort (although thats not where mine will end up), which will look like this:It looks like it will be fun to make, and will let me practice my O/A skills onsomething nice. Anyway, I need to find filler necks, and "drains" for the bottoms of these. Any number of sizes will work. Reply:Hey Lanse,The most inexpensive & practical route to go would be to use simple black-pipe nipples w/scr on caps as they come in quite a few lengths. It welds, brazes, or silver-solders easily. Reply:If you go to any industrial hardware outlet - those that sell hydraulics, pumps, etc. they should be able to source fuel caps with NPT thread that you screw into a half coupler. I buy 2" and 2 1/2" fittings in steel and aluminum for building tanks. Any plumbing supplier will have the other fittings and plugs.
Reply:Thanks guys!! Thats a great idea, i'll probably just go the pipe route, although I do wish that there was some way to make the pipe cap a little more "people friendly". Oh well, maybe i'll find a way to do that...And jdm, thats another possibility, i guess it depends on how much everything else will cost. I would go with the one i posted, but at $20, it costs more than the hardware, the pipe, the gas to weld it, and the paint to cover it with...
