Trailer Restoration Part I

This is an old 1964 Gooseneck (Actual name of manufacturer, the company that pioneered this type of trailer I believe), 6x20 stock trailer.Picked it up at an equipment auction over in Pawnee about 7 years ago.  Paid 700 for it, thought I'd get it for 300, but the guy that owned it started biddin' against me. Well, anyhow, I hooked 'er up for the trip home, and proceeded on my way at about 20mph.  Did I tell ya that the tandem equalizers were completely rusted through, and not attached to the trailer?  Pretty interesting trip, what with watchin' the rear view to see how far the axles were slidin' out from under the trailer each time they hit a bump or curve.List of things wrong.  Bad running gear.  No floor.  Sides rusted through along the entire length of both sides of trailer.  Rear door latch destroyed.Now I knew all of this when I took my hands outta my pockets to start the bid.  Been many a bad thing start in this manner.The one good thing on this little jewel were 4 really new 16 inch tires mounted on new rims.  Those babies were worth near 700 right there.  Besides I figgered there wasn't a soul brave enough to make a serious bid on the thing.  I bring a lot of this kind of stuff back to the farm.Total in rebuild including iron, lumber, and paint back then was 800.  So now I got me a brand new 1500 dollar trailer that would set anyone else back over 6-7000 to buy new.  A little Southern Engineering goes a long way.The original pics were taken with an old point and shoot film camera.  Sorry about the quality.The one unique feature of the rebuild is the expanded metal deck under the wood floor overlay.  Seen too many guys wind up gettin' to the sale barn with a load of steers with at least one that ain't got a leg anymore.  They break through the wood, and the leg gets ground off on the highway.The rusted through sides were scabbed inside, and out with 12 ga.  New equalizer fabricated..... etc.Doin' this post in a couple of posts because I can't upload more than 5 pics at a time.
