I made this quite a while back.  Mostly in self defense.Back when I used to sell hay, there was this ol' boy that was a real good year in - year out customer.  Only problem was, he wasn't much on gettin' up in the morning.  He'd usually show up 1/2 hour before sundown wantin' his hay loaded.  It was drivin' me nuts.So I decided to put this together so that he could leave the trailer, and pick it up the next day.  I load about 1/2 mi. from the house up in the field, so I needed something that could pick up a bumper pull or gooseneck without getting off the seat of the tractor.  Only time I get off is to lock the coupler.  Have to change to a larger ball for goosenecks.  Takes a few minutes.Lot of guys started leaving their trailers when they saw I'd set up to move 'em around easy. Reply:If I remember the right sizes on the balls. Most bumper pulls are 2" couplers, and goosenecks are 2 5/16 couplers.  I just change the ball on my hitch to match the type of trailer.The 3 point hitch on a tractor will lift from about a foot off the ground up to around 4 feet up.  So I can just raise the hitch to fit the height of the trailer hitch by hittin' the control lever.  It's handy.  For short distances over level ground (trailer empty of course), I just back up, lower the ball, get under the coupler, and then raise the hitch up to lift, and tow the trailer.  I drop it where I want it.  Don't have to fool around with crankin' the landing gear up and down, or locking the coupler.Now when the trailer's loaded, or it's hilly ground, I make doggone sure to lock that coupler.Last edited by farmersamm; 08-25-2008 at 06:13 PM.
