Reply:Nice kart!!I agree with Franz. You need a seat belt. I would also add that a  helmet is needed as well. You and your kids may never have an incident, but do you really want to roll the dice when you don't have to.My homemade kart:


Reply:Jerry, Nice Job.  Did you make the spindles or buy them?  How is the rear axle conected to the frame?Jadecy,Same questions to you.  How many horse?  Can we see more closeups of your work?  It looks very cool.
Reply:Spindles were home made, I used 5/16 material for those. The live axle has a pillow block bearing mounted on each side. The pic of the front spindles shows the pillow blocks in the background.The little guy was just sitting in it for pic. he doesn't drive it yet. They do wear helmets but I do not have a restraint in it. I also have two  5 HP minibikes that the boys fly around on to and sometimes there uncle Joe joins them. I think a seat like Jadecy has would be excellant, nice looking machine I bet she flies.Good point Franz I'll have to look into adding that this summer.J P Streets Welding LLC

Reply:With a roll bar you really need a restraint system.  In fact, I'd much rather wreck in a kart without a roll bar if I wasn't wearing a restraint.  The problem is if he rolls the roll bar will likely crush him... where if he didn't have it perhaps he might luck out and be thrown completely away from the thing.  Moral of the story... get some belts in that thing.  My Jeep club just lost a member a few months ago who was crushed when his buggy rolled and his cage landed on him.
