I was wondering if anyone knows about the quality of rods made in China. I have a chance to purchase some at a good price but it does not say CSA on the box. Can I use these rods. I am in Canada. Thanks
Reply:I would automatically assume the quality of those rods are the same as the quality of the chicom welders and everything else they make. An absolute waste of money, POS!Remember, you most often get what you pay for."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:x2... While the Chinese are perfectly capable to make high quality goods just like the rest of the world, much of their welding stuff has a hard earned bad reputation. I'd stay away from it.[Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. See you on YouTube! -ChuckE2009
Reply:Ive read some pretty interesting corrosion articles that touch on the fact that China and other foreign countries produce a measurably lower quality of steel. I have seen some pretty terrible Chinese fittings and pipe myself so I could certainly entertain the argument that their filler rod would also be of low quality. to go even further, i have noticed alot of chinese tools are of a pretty craptastic quality. Ive seen some brand new chinese chainfalls let loose under moderate loads.
Reply:Ask any Drywall Contractor about Chinese Drywall. If they take as much pride in their electrodes as they do their drywall; you have been warned.I offer three choices: Good, Fast, & Cheap. Reply:I wouldn't use if it were free. Seriously.
Reply:Dam it! Now you got me thinking; Chinese rods and Nuclear power. Talk about a scary scenario.
Reply:Though I myself wouldn't use chinese sticks like these, you may want to realize majoirty of the tungsten electrodes produced comes from that side of the world.

It do not if they were the same as the ones installed in Oakland,Ca and shipped here on special tankers. I guess they got a deal on them? Also some large valves made for steam generation plants were shipped here and tested, and they blew up.
Reply:China is a country of shady men making shady products and a far cry from the romantic image that much of the world has of their past. Last year I saw a photo article of a bridge that was falling apart because the contractor has used garbage as a filler in the cement in place of gravel because he ran out. China has had numerous products come here that have been contaminated with various chemicals and if you look back over the last 6 or 7 years you will find this out.

They have all the markings of high strength bolts, but are made of garbage steel. I wouldn't trust a Chinese welding rod as far as I can throw it, regardless of whether it has "Certifications" or not.The Chinese are famous for cheating in everything they do.I have enough us made rods to last till hell freezes over.
