Howdy!! It's been a while...I have a chunk of broken Cast Aluminum that needs welded... It don't have to be pretty, just one piece again... The Equipment I have at hand a MM135 and aluminum wire. OR... a Hobart TR250 ac/dc, Tig Torch and associated regulator. Argon gas, or CO2 gas, ( or if I need it, i can steal the He bottle from work ( balloons )).Which would be my best option...? If I don't have enough info, I'll post a picture of what needs welded. Basically, the part is 3/8ths thick, 1in length, 90degree angle (think aluminum angle iron ).My welding equip inventory isn't all that high, but gotta start somewhere. Thanks!!Robert
Reply:Based on what you indicate, I would say go straight to the top and use your hobart in DCEN with the helium. The mm135 doesn't have a prayer. You'll need a torch capable of sustained 250 amps, and a fairly big tungsten....cause, you'll be running the hobart wide open.Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'.
