I was wondering if anyone knows of were to get plans for a metal entertainment center, my television is sitting in the living room on the floor and just I tripped over it. I can get decorative wrought iron at pacific steel and was wondering how that stuff is to work with? or should I just get a wood one from wallyworld? I Know I will have more in it than buying one but I think it would be a great project but Im not very artistic so I need plans.
Reply:i got some 2x8 alumin box tubing that im gonna get around to building one of these days.  My new tv sits ontop of my old tv, its very ghetto haha.I like very simple designs, they are often the most challenging to build and make look nice though.
Reply:this isnt a welded solution but i gotta say you cant beat cinder blocks and planks for building something like that for cheap easy and flexible...
Reply:OK somewhat of a rant, but I hope you get something out of it.Projects like this are simple.  If you need a plan, you're better off buying one from wally world, but where's the fun and what would you learn.I plan on building my own entertainment center/desk that fits in my apartment and will fit everything I have, everything I want to have, and have it all where I want it.  So my suggestion is get out the tape measure.  I have the wally world crap furniture desk and entertainment center right now and I don't like the height of it, my desk is too low, my tv is too high.  I want something I can run wiring through to conceal it.  I'm going to make openings for outlets.  The back is going to run up my high ceilings so I can put some plywood up and paint it then hang my photos from it so I don't drill holes in my apartments walls. So what I'm saying is use your imagination and build it to fit your needs.  There's a little engineer in all of us.
Reply:I built mine from looking at stuff in stores and brochures and then measuring what I had and what I though I might get. I worked fine and then things changed and I put it in a cavity in the wall and found another use for it holding comms and network gear where i worked. Reply:Didn't I see somewhere an aluminum TV stand that you made, or it might have been someone else.  It was a pretty decent stand if I recall."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/

Reply:I didnt realize they were an International company  . Probably the easiest thing to do is not drink so much Wild Turkey that I cant see the tv on the floor  thanks for all the advice Im going to build one eventually.Broccoli1 that table looks really nice I wish I had the patience to build something like that. I always get in a hurry in the last 20 minutes of building something like that and dont do the finish work properly.
