Unsatisfied with the efficiency of a tankless water heater, a friend and I decided an upgrade was in order.According to the manual ANY attempt to make the unit more efficient will void the warranty.  Well shucky darn.  Im sure we blew that out the door when we converted it to Propane from natural Gas...  this is just icing on the cake.It is constructed of stainless... I'm not sure what alloy.  A couple of dead submersible pumps gave their lifes to be recycled into a heat exchanger.Inside the large tube, is an oil cooler.  The exhaust passes thru the exchanger on it's way out the roof vent.  Makes a ton of condensate.  Also makes a noticible difference in the temperature from incoming to water heater inlet.I'll try and get some close ups of the welds.  Not the greatest, but they're all TIG.  ( Got to learn somewhere ).Thanks for looking. Reply:My buddy Marc has tankless water heaters in his house and garage in N.H. ..Electric ones and they work just fine... ...zap!Last edited by zapster; 06-15-2007 at 05:32 PM.I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Very cool.  Post more pics if you got 'em.Also, what is your vent made of?  If it's not stainless, the acid in the condensate will kill it.  Also, don't just let the condensate flow to a drain.  Neutralize it by allowing it to flow over limestone or marble chips on its way to the drain.Favorite right now is a Miller Syncro 200.Tons of tools and I blame at least one of them when things don't go right.

Reply:I've got about 75 of the largest tankless heaters that are made. I'm not fond of them. Love those heat exchangers....My buddy Marc has tankless water heaters in his house and garage in N.H. ..Electric ones and they work just fine... I'm surprised someone would go with electric out there with juice so expensive. I can just see the neighbors lights dimming as voltage in the neighborhood drops when they kick on......
