Hi guys , just a post for an update. I just finished re-wiring my garage. From the pole, Under the meter, I have a 100 amp breaker(Diconnect) switch box, in the garage I have a 50 amp, and two 25 amp breakers. The 50 is for my big stick machine, the others for lights, outlet boxes. No longer blowing a fuse (breaker) and sitting in the dark. Anyway, with a direct conection to the power source courtesy #4 copper wire, My little 135 does 1/4 inch plate like the big 400 I used to use, using 035 wire. When I told the local Miller dealer what I had done, he responded "welcome to the world of 1/4 inch". I'll tell you, he wasnt kidding. It welds like a dream. I make mostly small things and repairs so duty cycle hasnt been any kind of problem as of yet.I know some of you guy's hate the tiny machines, but my budget was set for this one. All ready having a 225 ac/dc lincoln that was my dads for welding the thick stuff and cutting , I am now set! Anyway, just a note to say bigger is not nessesarily better if you have the power supply to keep it humming along. Its all I will need for the time being. And to be able to spray with this machine and not have the welder smoking more then the weld process is unreal! I know Tex will chime in on this , if memory is correct, he has one of these little guys in his shop. Happy Welding..Wrench.
Reply:We have a Hobart 135 at work I was using Thursday. After me asking a bunch of questions the other day about what I should get, I used the HH135 instead of the Miller 250 we have to make a couple of machine guards. I was impressed with the HH135 and I was welding 1/4. I was seriously going to buy a Miller 135 or HH140 then decided on the HH180. I would however not turn my nose up to the MM135 or the HH140 if I was doing something. They are a nice 120V machine in my opinion.Drivesector
Reply:i have the 135 and love it. its a great lil MIG unit. i have been using it for a lil over 3 years now and its still running strong. i dont regret spending a lil more for the Miller at all. for a 120V MIG it packs quite a punch. mine is set up with c-25 gas now but when i first got it it was flux only for a lil wile, now i keep some flux on hand for the outside stuff. i used it to put togather my steel shop 22'X20' wile i love it with c-25, the flux core has its place.here is a pic of it in progress. Attached Images summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time. |
