I have been using JW harris cored 20 Gauge Harris 20 Gauge .030 MIG wire for a while on sheet metal. It's nice wire, leaves a bit of soot and brown powder-type residue. I was wondering How or why it's supposed to prevent blow-through. Is it using a spray-type transfer at lower amps? I'M using it in my MM210. They have settings for 110 machines, not for 220 machines. Reply:Having never welded with this wire, I looked at the link that you provided and it seems that the way that they prevent burn-through is they have designed their wire to have a wider arc. The wider the arc, the less penetration. Wires that are designed for maximum penetration usually have a needle-like arc. |
