When stick- MIG- TIG welding, running a bead is a three step process.1. Initiate the arc.2. Establish a puddle.3. Begin travel.Two ways to stop. Question: Why are you stopping?If weld is completed...1. Stop travel.2. Fill end crater.3. Break arc.If weld not completed...1. Break arc at leading edge of puddle, quickly. The small gouge at the leading edge of the crater is the target for the restart. Restart. Strike the arc one rod diameter in front of crater, move back to gouge, re-establish puddle, resume forward travel.TIG will be the first process that will need to modify this technique.Weldtek |
