I saw an image a while back and decided to burn it out on our CNC plasma tonight...  It's on 16ga 308(I think) s.s.  I finished the face to #4 with a balloon type abrasive.The photos-Mike Attached ImagesCommon sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.

Reply:Interesting advice.  I think my Dickies work pants have been washed so many times they have lost their fire retardance.  Last time I was cutting, my pants went up in flame.  Usually they just melt when a spark hits them.

Reply:I used paintshop pro to change the original image to 2 bit, then I cleaned it up and smoothed it out a bit.Then I imported it into Draftsman cutting shop to convert it to a rough dxf file.Then I imported it into Shop data systems where I ironed out some of the lines and set a burn path.I used Winlink to export it to the plasma.The plasma unit is (pulling numbers off the machine) MG Industries SM1000 CMC2.8NC.  And the bed is 10 x 20 with an adjustable water table.I ran the machine at 35amps with a travel speed of 35ipm.  A bit slower because the part was submerged with water to keep warpage to a minimum.-MikeCommon sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.

Reply:I tried using Draftsman Cutting Shop to convert raster to vector for laser cutting. I didn't like it very much. Now I use Corel Draw X3 or (13). Reply:I decided to plasma another sign outa steel this time.  I figured it needed a little color, so I made a backing plate and painted it.  I think I might redo the flames since my masking tape covered a few spots.If anyone wants, I have the dxf file and the ML file for whatever you are using on the CNC side of things.  Just hollar and I'll send it to you.-Mike Attached ImagesCommon sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.
