Hello--I'm a little over a month away from graduating from my welding training in the Army and I'm beginning to look online for jobs/apprenticeships, etc. (I'm National Guard, not Active Duty). The school is AWS certified/accredited.I would prefer to work in the northern NJ or NYC area since that is where my family is, but I am open to traveling as well.  (I'm single and unattached.)Most of the job postings I've found require at least 2-5 years of experience, which I obviously don't have.  Would it be a good idea to seek out an apprenticeship instead of a regular job?  I looked into welding schools in my area, but there don't seem to be any.Any other suggestions or information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Reply:Ironworkers, Pipefitters. Check out Helmets to Hardhats. Some locals/trades may give you credit for your Army training.Welcome aboard troop. Army Strong.Sgt P 88H, 88M, 21J, 21EWeldanpower 225 G7Ironworkers Local #24
Reply:I was gonna say you should get credit for the school and military experience.  I did when I got out.  It's a great trade, I made my money over the years doing just that and managed to do well by my standards, you can too.  Ohrah, Rangers out!BobI'm spending my Kids inheritance, I dont like him that much anyway!!!!!!Enuff tools to do the job, enough sense to use em.Anybody got a spare set of kidneys?  Trade?
