Hey Guys,I'm looking for a rod, for welding up ornamental lawn-type stuff, mostly out of 1/2 " rebar. 6010 & 6011 work okay of course, but I'm looking for something that'll strike and restrike as easily as those on typically rusty rebar yet leave the same type of bead as 7018.I'm using a DC machine and of course as "time is money" I don't want to do much grinding. Either to clean up the rebar in the first place and use the 7018's or afterwards to clean up the beads from the 60-series.Any suggestions??? Maximum strength and/or "xray quality" is not an issue, appearance is...thanks,
Reply:Try some 7014 or some 6013. Might be good compromises for you.
Reply:i would agree w/MAC. 7018 is low-hydrogen and will weld like crap if a lot of moisture gets to it. 6013 would be my choice.
Reply:Ditto what Mac and weldrwomn said on the 6013.Kalroy"It's all about the OODA Loop."
Reply:Tried the 6013's....perfect! Exactly what I was looking for. Many thanks for the advice, much appreciated!! |
