here's some pictures of  a New kubota bucket that I had to cut up and build new brackets for:Somehow I forgot to take the final picture.  Well it was already 1:00 am when I took these.Last edited by lugweld; 11-20-2008 at 09:50 PM.Esab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT
Reply:Sorry, Clicked wrong button.  Notice the poor quality control on the original support bracket.  The welds aren't even touching the bracket in some instances. Reply:Lugweld-  It must be nice to be able to work inside.  I wish I even had a garage"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Well,  most all of these loaders come out of the Gainesville GA/Jefferson GA mfg. plants.I had a friend that was QC inspector at one time. I don't know if she still works there. The other welds that held the cutting edge on were full of pinholes. When they first started manufacturing, if a weld was a 1/4 inch off from where it was supposed to be, they rejected it, mutilated it and sent it out for scrap.  We got several buckets and welded them back together from the scrap yard.  The missed welds were marked with a perm marker, and many times they were nearly perfect.Esab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT

Reply:Before we bought a house where we are now, I had a nice little shop.   But my wife is a teacher and she got a job in this county and we moved and I had to let go of my shop.I want to build a new shop.  This garage right now is my "home office".  It is 24x24 with a 10x10 additional work room. Perfect for storing the other junk, my bolt bins, extra welding supplies and lawn mower in so I don't have to use my floor space in my garage.  I also have a aluminum cover that sheds off the side of the garage so I can park something in there if I ever get around to moving about 2 tons of steel I have under there.Duane,Sorry,  I delivered it back to the dealer the next morning. I was too bleary eyed to even think about it. It was about 2:00 am when I finished.   But I have  a set of forks that I am doing the same way that I have to return.  If he has the tractor still around, I might carry my camera with me.Or might take some pictures of the forks.Last edited by lugweld; 11-20-2008 at 11:10 PM.Esab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT
Reply:Our friend farmersamm was right when he said I was pleased with my new Kubota's welds including the ones on the bucket. The welds on mine are as good as any I've seen. Not often do I see poor welds on anything these days. Last year I purchased a new tire changer for my shop. I looked at many different models made in different countries. The one I ended up buying was a Chinese model and one of the reasons I bought it was the welds on the thing. They welds were perfect and the changer has worked perfect for us.It's unusual to see poor quality welds these days. I can't remember seeing any in the last five years but I guess if QC is lacking some might get through. Other than mentioning the poor welds on this bucket what other changes did you make. What's the flat bar with the rectangular slots in for. I'm thinking skid steer attachment?I added a snow guard to my tractors bucket to make the bucket a little deeper and prevent snow from dropping off the back end of the bucket when it's curled back. Would be nice to see the bucket your doing mounted on the tractor.Miller 302 Trailblazer/Custom TrailerMillermatic 350P/Spool gunMillermatic 252Miller Spectrum 875Miller Dynasty200DxHypertherm Powermax 85Tracker CNC 4X8 Pro Table (Down Draft)Visit us @ www.specialtyrepairscustommods.com
Reply:The bucket was simply a bucket that wasn't quick connect.  The dealer wanted it to be quick connect.  He had more quick connect loaders than buckets.  He had these buckets that did not match.  The bars with the slots are the same as what is on your bucket. It is a "universal" design.  It would fit a kubota, massey, or yes even a skid steer.  The dimensions are all roughly the same on the most recent versions of everyone's loaders.Additionally, this bucket had a warp in it.  The first bucket that I did was similar in quality, though the welds were better, some were porous. The full length of the bar is merely a design that is quite frequently used in "universal" style hitches.  It also adds reinforcement to the backside of the bucket.Esab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT

Reply:Allright,Her name is Deenah T.  I think she used to be in the welding,if I remember right, but since I looked her up it says something about shipping.Anyway tell her a highschool classmate says Hi.I have two more buckets to do in the next couple of weeks.  Will post pics.   The first bucket I welded did have issues, but not as many as this second one.  I looked at another one last night and it was warped.  More than one person has said that they are not long life buckets, including dealer friends.  I have come out of the Ag equipment business several years ago, and had regular interaction with customers.  Kubotas are generally high quality tractors, but their suitability for serious heavy duty Agricultural work is limited, because they build everything strong BUT LIGHTWEIGHT as possible and have issues with cooling when subjected to long and heavy loads that are encountered in field conditions. One farm I managed a few years ago had a Kubota offset tractor.  The Japanese/ American VP for kubota who grew up on a potato farm and some factory engineers came out to visit the farm.  They wanted to see "their" tractor.  Well when they grabbed hold of the steering wheel and it completed one revolution without so much as budging the the wheels, their eyes popped wide open.  They started talking and the VP translated that in Japan they had never seen any conditions such as the tractor had presented.  Well, we had a late model IH offset with a komatsu diesel.  It had more hours and much less severe wear. They observed the IH for a long time looking at the beefy features and just shaking their heads in amazement.  That was until they saw our 60 hp kubota, and their jaws dropped again.  It had 2 engines and 3 sets of front spindles(due to loader), multiple tie rod ends (they were NYLON inside)  in it before it had 400 hours.  Other tractors recieved similar use and abuse with less problems.  One Ford had 20k hours and only recieved one clutch and one injector.Last edited by lugweld; 11-22-2008 at 03:09 PM.Esab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT
Reply:now i do commend you for the honesty and i do admit the loader buckets and some of our pto attachments aren't the greatest for severe or serious duty, but the average joe that buys these usually hauls bales of hay, plows flat fields of dirt, small excavation or grading...nothing TOO serious as to need a JD heavy duty, Case, etc, etc...we mainly focus on 110 hp and under markets and i do know the overkill method is employed quite well here. i hoped we would put forth more effort into things being heavier duty and not such a high production but i just weld for them ...
Reply:The survival of Kubota will necessitate developing serious agricultural tractors as this economy worsens.  As people loose their disposable income and quite frankly their income,  the only people that will be interested are the people who will go on buying tractors in a bad market: farmers. Generally farmers do better domestically in bad economies.   They will weigh their descisions on buying tractors #1 from the pocket book. #2 How the tractor fits into their farm needs #3 how well built and suited it is to do a hard and abusive job.#4 what company offers the best after the sale service. If I had input in Kubota, I would lean hard on the execs to produce seriously minded HD tractors, with an eye for durability for the serious farmer because it is likely it will take at least a decade to recover from this slide that has just begun.Esab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT
