Wood Stove

My dad made this stove for my brother's new place.  He has his own garage for a wood shop.My son and I brought the V155-S to do a couple of mods.  The air intake needed a baffle and it had no ash tray on the front under the door.  My brother bought a small piece of sheet, thin is  all I know and some 1/8" X 1".  He cut out the piece with a sabre saw, My son and I tacked the flat stock on and bent it around.  We then welded a piece of 1 1/2 X 1 1/2 X 3/16" angle to the stove, then we welded the ash tray to the angle.  I even used a level. The ash tray Tacked on the bottom.My son putting it together.  5/64 6013 DCEN 45 amps, Invertec V155-S  (Fischer price) plugged into a 20 amp 110 V circutHere is the baffle for the air intake.  It needs to preheat and redirect the air.  65 or so amps.All done and in useGo easy on my Dad's welding, he is seventy-something and who taught me to weld.Last edited by David R; 11-30-2008 at 09:47 PM.Real world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Looks fine.  Father son things are great.Is there a truly safe way to deal with sparks, and embers in the updraft.  I haven't been able to heat my house with propane for almost 2yrs. now.  All the propane has to go to the folks house.  I can't afford to run both houses, so I'm heating with these crappy space heaters over here.I don't like the commercially available wood stoves I've been seein' lately in my price range.Is there a system of baffles in the firebox that can be fabbed, in addition to a spark arrestor on the chimney.You've seen pics of how dry it gets around here."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
