A neat little wrench specially made to loosen and tighten the collet body on a TIG torch. I could make one I suppose. I noticed this weekend that I ruined one of these nuts from using an adjustable wrench. Anyone have this tool?
Reply:I just use my fingers.????????????????????????Never had a problem.
Reply:It is important that the collet body is snug, and that the back cap/collet/collet body all securely hold the tungsten. Generally I think most people use their fingers, a little wrench would be ok too. Maybe your talking about the short little collet bodies which have flats for a wrench. These may snug up best with a wrench. Then again, why not just use a gas lens and get the best shielding? The main problem would be loose components causing arcing or overheating from excess resistance.

Reply:Maybe have your big sister tighten it for you????
Reply:I've been just using my fingers to snug these up lately like you guys suggested. Of course this works nicely. I don't know what made me think I had to get it much tighter. Now I don't need my big sister to help...

Reply:i use a dremel tool wrench on mine but dont use much torque. the only reason i use it is due to extreamly dry hands to the point of cracking. the dremal tool fits nice and is small enough it should keep you from over tightining it. just give it a lil tweek and its good to go. summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time. |
