What is proper setting for shield gas? Are they the same? I am running a lincoln 355 with .030" wire and co2. I like to run the gas at about 30psi.:
Reply:Zap,please tell the man, the proper setting is the one that shields the weld.Sorry JD, and Zap, couldn't resist. but really that's what it boils down to, what works for you. Do an experiment for yourself. Too Low and Too High= oxidized with porosity, and maybe other ugly weld side effects. Straight CO2 is pretty violent and produces a lot of spatter compared to 75%/25% Ar/CO2, so maybe you could tell whats happening better with a milder gas.If you're using a "flow meter" where you adjust pressure of gas flowing through an orifice, versus the floating ball type, see the post today with a link that shows the effect of pressure, orifice size, and gas type on flow rate. |
