heres what I got so far, I'll post pics of it welded up tomorrow.. I was just going to tack it up real good and fill it in, if I have time I might make a jig to ensure it comes out true, any thoughts? Reply:Idiots get first shot at questions.   My Hand's RaisedDon't know what it is in relation to the Bobcat.  What is the mating part.  Can a shaft be run between the two pin points.I've found that anything with a close tolerance pin fit is best tacked with the mating part "installed", the mating part removed and the final welds done.  I don't know if it's possible on something like a scraper or dozer, but is it possible with this smaller piece of equipment?I don't really deal in really big things"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Maybe a good way to make a jig would be to use a piece of bushing stock that would square up the pin. Then you could clamp the stock to the main arm.Just a thought. My adventures in welding projects:http://weldingshopblog.blogspot.com/
Reply:Hey manDug up an old pic and scanned it.  If the round bushing sorta thing is where a pin will fit, and you have clear access from side to side to use a piece of cold roll as a jig.  This is an excellent way to make the alignment.I use extrusions to hold pins.  It allows me to really tweak 'em to lign up right.  Line it up, sighting along a straight part of the machine, or tramming it, then tack it, then weld the extrusion in place with the piece of cold roll still in the extrusion(use anti spatter on the cold roll so it doesn't get dingleballs and you can get it out again), and you gotta good straight thing. If it's old, and warped from use, you may have to resort to using the mating parts as a guide Attached Images"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Oh BTWLeaving the cold roll in while you weld helps to hold it true, and it provides a good heat sink so that you don't get too much distortion on the inside diameter of the bushing thingy.  The heat from the weld sometimes leaves a raised bump on the opposite side from the weld.  Might not be a problem as thick as your bushing thing is."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:finished it today ..... gave it some paint too Attached Images"Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal"   -Henry Ford
