Hello All I am new to the site and new at welding.. Which is a better weld Flux Core MIG or MIG using Argon?Also when welding if you have to weld vertical should you start at the top ot bottom?

Reply:Keep in mind that some flux-core wires are meant to be used inside because of the gas-shielding they require. They will be a lot easier to handle if you got a lot of vertical to do. Remember that flux-core wire don't go well with pure Argon too. Go with C25 or CO2. For the gasless flux-core wire, I never had fun with that. It sparks, spatters and welds like $h..

Reply:I am welding my frame on my S10..I narrowed it from 40" to 24" I have most of it boxed in already but I was having trouble trying to vertical weld starting at the bottom so I tried to start at the top with Great results.But I do want to do things proper so if welding vertical starting at the bottom is the proper way then I guess I need more practice The frame is 1/8th" and so is the metal I am using to box it in. |
