can ox/ac gauge be used in place of flo gauge?
Reply:Sure you can but you have to guess at the flow rate.  So to be on the safe side you will tend to use excessive shielding gas.
Reply:Do you mean just the 2" pressure or contents gauge? or the whole regulator? If it's the complete regulator, I'd advise not to, as you will have to change the nut and nipple from the oxygen or acetylene regulator to work on an argon, or argon mix cylinder. I've had customers go back and forth on a Co2 regulator to Argon/Co2 service with the proper adapter, even then the manufacturer of the adapter will state on their package "temporary use only" Some new units such as Lincoln's Powermig 215 and 255 come with an adapter to hook the regulator that comes with the unit up to a Co2 cylinder, but I would think twice about taking a regulator that was used for acetylene and trying it for argon service, just my .02
