The boat I'm welding is 5085 H116 alloy, I'm wondering what the best flow rate is?. I currently have the argon set at around 18 to 20 because I'm welding outdoors. Can to much flow cause porosity,or is more better?StuartAustralia
Reply:Too much flow can cause some unwanted turbulence inside the gas cup and can cause unwanted results.Best thing to do when welding outside is to try and shield the weld area with a sizeable object like a large piece of sheet metal, plywood, a wall of a building, have a person stand near you to block any wind, etc...18-20 should be about right for what you're doing.Good luck.Let us know how it goes. - Paulhttp://all-a-cart.comWelding Cart Kits and accessories
Reply:I weld inside, with a gas lens, # 6 cup and i have my gas set at 30psi with 100% argon and I use that with all the different types of metal that I weld at work....Thats how I rollStrive For Perfection
