I have an MM 130XP and just recently I cam across this problem:When i turn the welder on and am ready to go I press the trigger and nothing happens, The relay or whatever doesnt click, the little feed wheel doesnt turn nothing.Any idea's, or anything I can check myself. Thanks
Reply:Check your voltage switch, if I remember correctly this unit has 4 voltage taps, it's possible that you could have the switch in between ranges. Also some of these units had a fan only switch, and it was hard to tell if you were in range 4 or fan only. Does the unit power up, and can you here the fan run?
Reply:Yes it powers up, fan runs. No its not between ranges or anything like that.
Reply:The relay that doesn't click is called a contactor. There could be many reasons for your problem: contactor not functioning properly, problem with the circuit board, etc. There aRE things you can check with a DMM but you really need a service/troubleshooting manual.
Reply:the most likely area of failure would be the switch in the gun or the leads for the switch. Try removing the connector for the trigger from the power source and jumper the pins. If you here the contactor you will know the problem is in the gun.DennisThermal Arc 185-TSWMillermatic Challenger 172VictorO/AAtlas Craftsman 12 by 24 LatheEsab PCM-875Wholesalem Tool Mill-Drill
Reply:I'm jumped her over from the pins in the recepticle and sure enough it worked. I slid the short piece of liner near the power source up a little bit and there was a piece of tape covering where the trigger cord turns over too the trigger wires and sure enough the connection for one came un done. So simple
Reply:Glad I could help.DennisThermal Arc 185-TSWMillermatic Challenger 172VictorO/AAtlas Craftsman 12 by 24 LatheEsab PCM-875Wholesalem Tool Mill-Drill |
