Not sure if this should be obvious or not.I bought a new Thermal Arc 185. With the kit came a Victor regulator. Can this regulator also be used for a 75%AR/25%CO2 mix for my Lincoln MIG welder?
Reply:It depends on the regulator. What does the scale flow-gage part of the regulator go up to?MIG welding usually requires up to 45 cfh. If your gage goes up that high you can use it for MIG as well. However, the gage is calibrated for pure argon and will be slightly inaccurate when used with an argon mix, but the inaccuracy will only be a few cfh.Visit Tensaiteki.com
Reply:More than likely yes, as a straight argon tank and a C25 tank both have same valve, the valve on your cylinder should have "CGA 580" stamped on it, the regulator that came with your machine should have a male nut on it, this nut sometimes also has "580" stamped on it. One way to test it is if the regulator with your machine screws into the cylinder, your good to go, because if your regulator was by chance for another gas service, such as Oxygen, Acetylene, or Co2 it would not screw onto your cylinder. |
