Being new to welding, I had a couple of wirefeed questions I was hoping to get some input on.  I wanted to do some outdoor welding and most tables say to use the .045 for 1/4" and thicker stuff if using fluxcore.  1.  I was looking locally (HD, TSC, etc.) for some .045 fluxcore in a smaller 2lb size and even the LWS  didn't have any.  The LWS only had the big spool size, way more than I would ever use.  Everyone has the .030 and .035.  Am I pretty much limited to getting it off the internet or is it even available in that small a size?  The few sites I have checked didn't have it either.2.  Since I have a large number of .030 and .035 tips can I drill these out or must I buy the new tips?  I think the hole is supposed to be a few thou bigger than the wire right? I have a tweco style/type gun.  3.  Here is the big question:  I have a 270 amp Century machine but they dont have an .045 drive roller available.  It is listed as an accessory in the manual but the technical service person says it has never been available (or not now anyways).  These are Italian machines  (maybe made by Cebora).  Can I get by with the .030/.035 knurled roller to push the .045 fluxcore wire, or am I totally out of luck.  Here is the welder if that helpshttp://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...6274_200116274Before anyone rags on me for getting that machine let me say I got it almost new for $800.    I couldn't put $1500-$2000 into a Miller or Lincoln.  I have other options for welding since I have a Lincoln 225/125 stick welder as well but I was really curious to find out the answers to the above questions.  Thanks in advance.
Reply:Run the .035. It will work just fine.
Reply:You really can't push 0.045 wire through an 0.035 hole, so if all you have is an 0.035 tip than you are limited to 0.035 wire.Lincoln Innershield 0.045 wire is listed as coming on 10 pound spools.  But if you don't have an 0.045 tip, you are limited to 0.035 wire.If you have a bunch of 0.035 tips and no 0.045 tips, you could maybe try reaming out a tip to 0.045.  But it's probably not worth the aggravation to try doing that.
