anyone have a formula for converting Inches per Minute and volts to amps? My lincoln 255 only gives wire feed speed and voltage but I am doing some reading on axial spray transfer but the starting guidlines are given in amps.even if my 255 wont handle it I would still like the formula just to put in my notebook! Thanks
Reply:Voltage is a separate variable that is set on the constant voltage power supply.  Current is a function of wire feed speed (wfs) and wire diameter.Miller has a rough calculation, but as shown in charts, such as in the Lincoln guide (fig 9 page 16), and the ESAB guide, the function is not linear, so the calculation is approximate.http://www.millerwelds.com/pdf/mig_handbook.pdfhttp://content.lincolnelectric.com/p...ture/c4200.pdfhttp://www.esabna.com/EUWeb/MIG_handbook/592mig8_6.htm Attached Fileswfs vs current.doc (38.0 KB, 1036 views)
