After fixing a few commercial mower baskets for a friend, I realized that I can probably braze a newo bottom onto them alot faster and more efficiently than OA or tig welding. The strength of a weld is not really necessary in this repair. Exactly what kind of bronze brazing rods and what type of flux should I purchase?TA Arcmaster 300CM3XMT 304S22P12 suitcase feederX-Treme 12VSOptima pulserTA161SMaxstar 150STLHypertherm PM45OP setupStihl 020AVP, 039, 066 Magnum
Reply:You can either buy flux coated brazing rods (widely available but expensive) or go with uncoated brazing rods (such rods are available only at a welding store but should be much less expensive) and brazing flux (available at welding stores, TSC sells has Hobart, Home Depot sells Lincoln - usually less than $10).For your application, I don't think the type of brass/bronze brazing rod is going to matter too much.Rick V 1 Airco Heliwelder 3A/DDR3 CTC 70/90 amp Stick/Tig Inverters in Parallel1 Lincoln MIG PAK 151 Oxy-Acet

Reply:i prefer the bare rod over the flux coated. just my opinion but it seems to flow out better. little more of a job having to dip the rod in the flux can but you can very the amount of flux for the job to lessen cleanup especially if you are doing buildup.225NT bobcatAEAD200LEScott 125mm175, mm252 w 30A, PT225mm211, TA 181iHyper Therm 380, cut master 529100X & XX, Digital Elite6 Victor setssmith little torch, meco midget kalamazoo band sawsteel max saw evoulution circular saw |
