Ok I do not know much about welding different metals (if possible) or welding in general.  Just what I have learned from high school and life.  I was told to post a thread here to get my answers.1.  I have a set of 8' x 24' soccer goals that are portable.  I want to get all the pieces welding together (yes so they cannot be separated).  What type of welding would I use?  2.  Does it need to be sanded to bare metal?  3.  Would it be wise to use aluminum (or steel if you can mix the metal types?) sleeves to ensure strength or would direct joints be enought?Thank you
Reply:Ummmm....Ahhhhhhhhh...Jeeeezzzzzzz there coach...Do you plan on moving these things after use or stationary?Aluminum is $$$$ so you may want different options if cost is an issue...Lots to take into consideration here......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Where are you located? Might be able to get someone close willing to help...
Reply:1. Depends on if they are aluminum or steel.  For Al, I would use TIG or MIG, whichever is handiest.  For steel I would use Stick or MIG, again whichever is handiest.2. Yes, regardless of material type.3. Probably not a bad idea, depending on how thick the material is and how sturdy you want them to be.  No, you cannot weld aluminum to steel (for the purposes of this discussion anyways)Have we all gone mad?
