I was driving to drop the kids off at their grandparents and saw a free craftsman riding mower sitting on the side of the road. It didn't have a mower deck but it does have a 19.5hp Briggs motor on it. The guy said it sat for a year and when he tried to start it it wouldn't start. He only tried to start it once. The motor he said was replaced 2 years ago but the mower deck was broken so it just sat. Anyway, I played with it a little and it should start rather easy. I have one just like it already so i was wondering if anybody had any cool ideas I could do with it. Something fun. i could always sell it and may consider it if i can't make something cool out of it.My Babies:MillerMatic 185Thermal Arc 300SHobart StickMate AC/DC 235/160Dalex Werke Spot WelderOh and the wife and kids are important too!
Reply:Right now I'm working on building a dump bucket on a new lawn tractor. Basically took a bucket from an ATV kit, built some mounts for the front of the tractor, and will be using some linear actuators to power the whole gig.If you put a mini-three point on the rear and a small bucket on the front, and of course got it started, you could probably make some money on the deal for someone that needs that sort of thing.
Reply:If i made something that cool I wouldn't be able to get rid of it. I would find a use for it. My Babies:MillerMatic 185Thermal Arc 300SHobart StickMate AC/DC 235/160Dalex Werke Spot WelderOh and the wife and kids are important too!
Reply:Did a search and these look like they could be fun to build. My wife may laugh at me though. Attached ImagesMy Babies:MillerMatic 185Thermal Arc 300SHobart StickMate AC/DC 235/160Dalex Werke Spot WelderOh and the wife and kids are important too!
Reply:I say build it to look like Monster Truck / Mower. Just raise it like a foot.
Reply:Got it running today. Just had to take apart the starter and clean out some corrosion and clean the coil and it started right up. Runs like a top. Not too bad for a free mower.p.s. the hand is my 2 year old washing the mower. Reply:I have almost the same model. I still use it for mowing the Johnson grass. All yours' needs is some bright paint, flags, running lights, fancy cupholders, and of course, a goofy horn. Reply:You could give it a bit more flow to the engine and turn it into a puller.. I did some work on one not too long ago. But you'll need bigger rear tires.Common sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.

Reply:One of the guys here at work does the pulling tractor thing. They mostly use OLD cubs and IH's because of the rearends. I think he said they would shatter a rearend like yours probably has.DewayneDixieland WeldingMM350PLincoln 100Some torchesOther misc. tools

Reply:I say make it into a racer. the lawn mower races are great! or take the engine out and make a barstool racer with it! a 20 HP barstool would be sweet!
