Well the wind took the trampoline and bent up the one welded joint which cause the tube to crack. So I'd like to try and fix it. I have to try and straighten the pipe which is galvanized then weld up the cracked joint. I know that welding galvanizd can be toxic but I'd like some help on what wire to use and any other helpful hints you guys have. I posted a few pics for a look, thanks..
Reply:I fixed up my trampoline once , actually a few times. Just from to much weight. You want to grind off the galvanized. Best to wear some kind of a mask when grinding. Just use regular steel wire. Galvanized is just a coaling on the outside , underneath is just regular steel.  Just paint it over once done to prevent rust.

Reply:Like this stuff.  Might be a different brand in your area. It's highly toxic when sprayed, so wear a respirator.  Safe as galvy when it dries.Near on 15-20 bucks a can, but worth it.  Just make sure to turn the can upside down, and run some of the propellant thru it to clear the nozzle.  It'll keep that way. Reply:You could just come get the trampoline that's in our front yard JeepSahara but that wouldn't be as rewarding as fixing yours. That 'cold patch' stuff Sam posted is a bit pricey so maybe just some good primer and silver or gray paint after the repair if you don't want to spend the money on the canned zinc or can't find it.  I would think you LWS might carry it.Let us know how you make out on the repair.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:you might want to sleeve the repair or put a piece of tube (maybe split) over the repair some how.  The leg is barely strong enough as it is.Brush on galv is far better, but costs more.DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Yes I was debating on how to actually fix it cause it probablt will need to be reinforced some. The end picture (the 2nd one) the tube looks "D" shaped needs to be made round enough that a tube slide inside it just past the leg so putting a sleeve in won't work. I was thinking after I straighten the "D" shaped tube I would weld the cracks on the leg and then maybe cut a rectangular piece of sheet metal with a hole cut in it to slip over the leg and bend it around the cross tube halfway and weld then weld around the leg again. You know what I mean? Any other thoughts?

Reply:Any one got an idea of how to make that pipe more round? I was trying to find some thing I could put in the end to force it open and round. i was thinking about a tail pipe expander but this tube is .075" wall which might be too thick to try to do anything like that. Any thoughts? put a piece of tube (maybe split) over the repair some how
Reply:I understand the split pipe fix, but couldn't you just use 2 gussets welded to each side? An easy fix! JMOFlash
